I have a confession – 70% of Poppy’s clothes are either bought on eBay or in charity shops, 29% are bought in the sales and 1% at full price when I simply can’t find a similar item cheaper anywhere. You see, I have a problem with paying full price for anything, especially such tiny pieces of clothing that will be grown out of at the speed of light.
If you aren’t used to eBay it can seem a little daunting, like an online equivalent of TK Maxx shopping x 1000! People often ask me “how do you find such wonderful things?”. Honestly? My technique has been honed to a pretty slick operation. No trawling through endless results for vague search terms; when I search it is by specific brand, item and size. I also ask a lot of questions and often ask for extra photos so I know exactly what I’m getting.
(Sorry for the super crappy photography but this girl was on a serious mission all day and literally didn’t stop or put teddy/dolly down long enough for me to get my phone out! I ended up videoing to get a clearer picture of the outfit.)
This outfit is a recent purchase –
- Cream wool cardigan (French brand) – £4.50 via eBay (I’ve found a similar one on www.notonthehighstreet.com for £29!)
- Jojo Maman Bebe dungarees – £0.99 via eBay (currently on sale in Jojo for £20!)
- Hair clips – £2.50 John Lewis (these colours are no longer on sale)
- Shoes – See our previous What Poppy wore post
I know that these aren’t new but to be honest you can’t even tell that they’ve been worn.
I also know that you never quite know what you’re going to find when shopping on Ebay but as long as you start your search with an open mind, the bargain potential is seriously unlimited!

Poppy looks very stylish! eBay is such a treasure trove!
Totally agree! I have to stop myself from going overboard with purchases – just because it’s cheaper doesn’t mean you have to buy everything!! 😉
I´ve never tried Ebay for clothes mainly because I cant trust if they will fit, but im with you on not paying expensive prices for kids clothes, anything paid full price are normally from H&M or cheaper shops, id never buy designer kids clothes…they don’t even wear them long before they’ve grown out of them. #twinklytuesday
Totally agree with you on the designer clothes. They always seem to fit small as well so they’re in them for even less time! Love H&M children clothes.
Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂 x
Great minds eh Angel? 🙂 I’ve always thought how well dressed Wills is and gorgeous Grayson will be a lucky chap to have his hand-me-downs! Seriously love Grayson’s name by the way xxx
Awww, she looks adorbs! I am totally with you, mine are almost all in sale, ebay, or charity shop. I HATE buying at full price and have found some gorgeous things including some star cord mini boden dungarees which have been passed through 3 children now (4 including the one who had them before they were on ebay!). I have to say though, Sainsburys Tu range is fast becoming a really good place to buy individual looking kids clothes and good quality for good prices for me – have a gander for Poppys’ wardrobe #twinklytuesday
Ooh I love mini boden, the quality really is fantastic. I’ve picked up a few of their cord pieces from eBay – they haven’t aged or disintegrated even after countless times being soaked with goodness knows what chemicals.
I totally agree re Sainsburys TU range too. I’ve been so impressed by the sweet designs and the prices are amazing! Thank you for stopping by 🙂
I love this – you can find such great things for less money out there!
I have sometimes bought Izzy’s clothes from eBay but more often from the supermarkets – especially Asda as they seem to wear well. I often sell bundles of her stuff on eBay though. even at 4, she goes through clothes like they’re going out of fashion (well, I guess they are!) so the cheaper the better – to a certain extent!
Ooh, I haven’t looked at Asda children clothes. Will make a detour when I’m next near one x
I have got some fab stuff off ebay for Zach in the past! It’s been a while since I’ve done it as I don’t seem to find the time to hunt but I’ve had stuff that has come through still with tags on! You can pick up some serious bargains! I always bulk buy in the sales too! You’ve got to grab a bargain where you can, they grow out of stuff so quickly! Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
She’s ADORABLE!
I can’t believe I’ve never thought to do this, i always buy Aria’s headbands from eBay but hadn’t even considered to search for clothes on there!
Poppy looks amazing 🙂
