Grotto fabulous

Who knew that getting up and out for a Saturday morning breakfast meeting could be this ridiculously fun. Did I mention that the meeting was with SANTA?!!

The lovely Wyevale team invited us along to enjoy Poppy’s first ever Father Christmas experience at one of their ‘Breakfast with Santa‘ events. If you’re booked in and don’t want any spoilers then look away now…but if you’re thinking of booking a Santa experience and are wondering where to go then definitely read on!

To set the scene, Poppy and I woke up feeling like death, both full of cold and wanting to crawl back under the duvet. Feeling pretty apprehensive about what we’d signed up for we greeted Granny, shoe-horned a wrestling Poppy into her elf outfit, shoved a brioche into her hand and set off at 8am. Arriving to a pretty much empty car park we tentatively entered the deserted garden centre to be greeted by a super chirpy member of staff. Phew! We hadn’t got the date/time/theme wrong!

We were guided to the beautifully decorated cafe where we were greeted by a host of elves who were full of festive spirit and who really sweetly chatted to a bewildered Poppy (she’s takes forever to wake up!) about what she wanted for Christmas, answer “cake”. Don’t we all Poppy, don’t we all.

I was surprised so see a completely full cafe of small children and adults pretty much all decked out in festive attire (I felt seriously under dressed). The efficient booking team had already taken our orders and had passed on requirements for highchairs etc so there wasn’t any faffing when we arrived. I love efficiency!

Our table was adorable! Decorated with poinsettia, crackers and red table cloth as well as an activity sheet and crayons for Pops but I was most excited by the gingerbread decorating kit consisting of gingerbread tree, white icing in a piping bag and mini smarties and marshmallows for decorating!! So incredibly brilliant and kept Poppy entertained pretty much the whole time we were at the table.

The elves were nice and prompt at delivery teas, coffees, juices and milk and were incredibly helpful and cheery at all times.

The adult’s cooked breakfast was delicious and cooked to perfection! The children’s was also delicious and had scrambled eggs instead of fried and toast soldiers instead of fried bread.

More decorating required as apparently my skills weren’t up to par.

After breakfast the main elf and his helpers got everyone involved at encouraging Santa to join us, cue lots of children shouting in excitement. Santa came round to each table and greeted the children, followed by his elves who gave out packs of chocolate coins, a really lovely little detail.

We were then led up a table at a time to choose a toy with the elves from a massive selection of all shapes and sizes, Poppy chose a tractor, before seeing the main man himself…

All in all it was a thoroughly festive and fantastic experience. I had been worried about Poppy being too small to enjoy it but she had the best time and really loved all the super lovely staff. At £9.99 for children’s tickets and £7.99 for adults I think it’s a real bargain and wouldn’t hesitate to go back Wyevale next Christmas.

So cute and fun, that looks like a great one to go to. It’s nice they have things to keep the kids entertained while waiting for Santa. Where I live they do the Polar Express every year and its so fun. Thanks for sharing, stopping by from #bestandworst

How cute! I thought about taking my daughter to see Santa this year, but at 6 months I feel like she’s too young to understand what’s going on. Can’t wait for next year! #bestandworst

Seemed like a fab morning meeting with Santa! My kids have not seen Santa this year yet, but next week we’re planning to surprise them with it. Lovely photos! #bestandworst
