The Intersection of Health & Beauty

The Intersection of Health & Beauty

*This is a collaborative post*

Here’s a simple fact that people commonly overlook: if you want to look your best, you need to look after your health. Although this might seem obvious, it is always surprising how few people actually carry it through. The truth is that there is a reason we usually lump health and beauty together under the same heading: where one exists, the other is likely to follow. So how can you ensure you are working both sides of this equation as equally as possible? As it turns out, there are a few key things to focus on which will help you to both look your best and feel as healthy as possible.

Healthy Smile

Nothing says beauty more than a healthy, genuine smile. To get this, you of course need to genuinely feel happy with your life. But that’s not all: it is also hugely important that you take proper care of your oral health. Your dental hygiene is more important than you might think. It’s not just a matter of keeping your mouth free of rotten and coffee-stained teeth; you also have the rest of your body to think about. If you ever develop gum disease, this can actually increase your chances of more serious diseases, such as heart disease. Therefore, visiting the Dentist office is important not just for a flashy smile that wows everyone, but in order to stay as healthy as you can as well. Look after one side, take care of the other.

Glowing Skin

We all want our skin to have that special glow to it, the one that just beams of health and radiance. Here, again, is something which is aided by taking a healthier stance to your beauty regime. As it turns out, a number of the daily practices you undergo in order to look better are probably actually harming your skin. In the long run, using lots of the wrong kind of product will actually dull your skin, rather than enliven it. Try to avoid overdoing it with soapy products, as these tend to dry your skin out over time. Similarly, applying only light make-up will save your skin a lot of damage in the long run, actually helping you to look more alive and – well, healthier.

Lustrous Hair

Hair is a big part of anyone’s beauty schedule, but are you sure that you are treating it right? You might not think that the matter of staying healthy comes into it much when it comes to hair – but you would be mistaken. Actually, keeping your hair looking great is as much about focusing on health as it is about knowing how to style it. Again, make sure you don’t overdo it with the products – you should actually only be fully washing your hair around two to three times a week if you want it to be healthy. You’ll also want to consider changing up your shampoo and conditioner from time to time, as this helps to reduce the amount of damage you cause it.

With a strong focus on both health and beauty, you can be sure of looking your best while also staying healthy – and that is what we are all going for.
