Online shopping is a funny old beast. Sooooo many things I’ve seen online and when they’ve arrived they’ve been like a different item altogether. As I don’t have the mental strength to take my terrible terrors shopping with me to peruse potential purchases in the flesh I do most of my shopping online so there is always something destined to be returned from an online order.
But☝🏼, there is always an exception to the rule.
I saw this dress online and was a little underwhelmed and honestly, if I hadn’t physically seen it whilst on a childfree trip to London recently, I wouldnt have bought it. This dress is so much better in real life!
The knot detail at the waist gives the illusion of a slimmer waist; the fabric moves so beautifully; the long sleeves give that extra versatility so it feels appropriate for daytime and evening occasions; the sexy split; the slight flounce at the hem; the slight up turn at the front, leading to the split, which helps to avoid swamping us of shorter stature. Possibly the very best thing though… pop it on a hanger straight from the washing machine and hang to dry and you won’t need to iron it 👌🏼 Ugh, I hate ironing.
The only thing I might change is to sew the split up very slightly as I am a prude and don’t want to risk flashing anything that I wouldn’t be happy about flashing.
I love that long sleeved printed dresses, and particularly this one, can be so versatile. I’ve worn this one with black tights and black boots and jacket for a daytime event as well as dressed up for an evening out with more delicate heels and gold dangly earrings.
*The lighting in my house is soooooo bad so I apologise for the mood lighting effect 🙊
Look one – Chunky ankle boots and statement earring
I think this kind of dress needs something to balance out the chunkiness of the boots. Either a statement lip or statement earring would be perfect. I already had these showstopper earrings stashed away and they’re perfect!
Dress – H&M
Earrings – Topshop or have a look at these cheaper and very similar ones from H&M.
Boots – These are my old faithful River Island ankle boots but I’ve found these similar ones from River Island and these fab velvet ones from Mango.
Look two – Let the dress do the talking
Adding a more delicate gold earring and neutral heel really lets this fab dress shine. I’ve gone for a golden bronzed look for my makeup and sleek hair to pull it all together.
Dress – H&M
Earrings – Just adore these delicate half hoop and chain earrings from & Other Stories. Their jewellery is amazing!
Shoes – These are my old Boden heels but I’ve found these fab ones from Boohoo that are similar and a total bargain.
Leather jacket – I picked this one up years and years ago from TK Maxx. Being collarless and so simple it goes with absolutely everything without over fussing an outfit. I’ve found this investment one from Ted Baker or this faux leather total bargain from Reserved.
Bag – My one is very slightly different to this one that I’ve found that is also from Zara but is actually cheaper than my one! Win win!
I love this dress, I think it is amazing enough to let it do the talking, gorgeous #TwinklyTuesday
