The sun has had his hat on here but it’s still chuffing freeeeeezing. I’m finding myself impatient to delve into Spring-appropriate styles but there’s no way they are temperature appropriate just yet. But! An extra layer adding a bit of fun and flair to your outfit might be just the ticket.
I’ve always loved a trophy jacket but usually restrict them to the final layer of a summer outfit. Recently though, I’ve been throwing them over a cosy knit for a casual look or over an embroidered top for when you can’t do without that extra layer once you’ve discarded your coat in a restaurant. I absolutely HATE being cold and this has been the answer to my anti-freezing prayers of late.
In the Summer wear them with skinny jeans and a tee or over a maxi dress. For a bigger statement wear with these fabulous wide twill trousers from H&M with espadrille wedges or some palazzo pants – Zara always do the best!
This weekend we had some proper grown up time sans children and surprise surprise, it was total and complete bliss. We talked about things that weren’t children-related, properly enjoyed each other’s company and indulged in a long lunch, just because we could! Ah to be that carefree and luxurious with our time 😄.
This amazing child-free time called for a step away from the usual weekend uniform, a little more zhush and a little less snot/unidentifiable substance covered items and the trophy jacket was a total winner.
I even wore it the next day over a cashmere knit, jeans and trainers to attend not one but two children’s birthday parties with two children and no wing man. Can I get a high five for surviving? I have to admit to eating the birthday cake in the party bags…and blaming it on ‘Daddy’ when questioned by a distraught 3 year old the next day. Don’t judge me, I was desperate 🙊
